Stage 9 figures to be one of the first potentially decisive days in the general classification competition. Tejay van Garderen has a real shot to take the Maillot Jaune from Chris Froome in the team trial. BMC are the favorites to win, although Froome and Sky have the firepower to mount a stiff defense.
Tour de France 2015, Stage 9: Route, TV schedule and more
A Stage 9 time trial will be one of the first decisive stages of the general classification competition at the Tour de France.
In fact, all of the final podium contenders should be in good shape. Nairo Quintana with Movistar, Vincenzo Nibali with Movistar and Alberto Contador with Tinkoff-Saxo are all about as well-supported as anyone could reasonably wish for. The riders on those teams should move up the general classification standings. Everyone else may take a step back, so those expecting a Thibaut Pinot revival will likely be disappointed.
The course itself is a gentle up-and-down affair running 28 kilometers from Vannes to Plumelec. There are few surprises, and no climbs that a strong rider can’t handle. The relatively short distance should make the racing frenetic and fun.
