On Friday, the National Enquirer and Radar Online reported that a full transcript of the Hulk Hogan sex tape revealed an extended, racist tirade from the pro wrestling legend. Prior to WWE announcing they had terminated Hulk Hogan’s contract and removing him from television immediately, Hogan’s profile was removed from the WWE.com roster, alumni page and even the Hall of Fame and all Hulk Hogan merchandise was removed from their online store.

In an exclusive statement to People on Friday morning, Hogan apologized for his remarks.

“Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it.”

“This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.”

Hogan went on to claim to People that he resigned from WWE when he knew that the remarks would be made public. WWE, however, is maintaining that Hogan was fired.
