Mayweather vs. Berto 2015 latest odds: Floyd sitting as 30-to-1 favorite

The odds are wide, and Floyd Mayweather is expected to remain undefeated tomorrow night.

Money has moved around just a bit on tomorrow night’s Mayweather-Berto fight, with reigning pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather’s odds getting even bigger. As of Friday morning, Mayweather is listed between -2400 and -5000 on various top sports books.

Mayweather, 38, is expected to get to 49-0 on Saturday night against what is, quite frankly, a substandard opponent at this level. Berto, 32, is a quality fighter and a former two-time titleholder at welterweight, but seems to be past his best days, and has struggled in the last few years, going 3-3 in his last six bouts. So not only is Berto almost surely over matched against the best boxer on the planet, but he’s probably not even the best version of himself at this point, either. It’s hard to imagine a time when Berto would have been a serious challenge for Floyd, but this aged and battle-worn Berto certainly isn’t expected to do much effectively tomorrow.

Mayweather has sold this as his last fight ever, which is still met with general skepticism by many in and around boxing, including his uncle Roger, who said recently that he figures Floyd will fight on. There is a chance to cash in big in a potential Showtime vs. HBO bidding war for fight No. 50 in 2016, so don’t count that out.

There are tighter odds in the card’s other two world title bouts. Challenger George Groves is the favorite against WBC super middleweight titleholder Badou Jack. Jack, who is promoted by Mayweather Promotions and will have home field advantage, as it were, is making his first defense. His odds are between +120 and +140. Groves, who is 0-2 in world title fights against Carl Froch, is listed between -145 and -160.

Rocky Martinez is favored between -215 and -235 to again beat Orlando Salido in their WBO super featherweight title rematch. Martinez beat Salido in April to win the belt. Salido, a double tough veteran of the ring, is listed between +175 and +215.
