Flavia Pennetta announces retirement immediately after winning 2015 US Open

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Winning the 2015 US Open must have been an amazing moment for Flavia Pennetta, but it pales in comparison to what she did immediately after.

Being interviewed right after her US Open final victory over Roberta Vinci, the 33-year-old Italian tennis star decided to go out on top and announced her retirement. While Pennetta plans to call it a career, it won’t be a pure mic drop and walk off the US Open court. She said she plans to play the rest of the season before retiring.
