Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate was acquired to give his offense a long-awaited complement to star wideout Calvin Johnson, and he hasn't disappointed.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 3: Golden Tate
Golden Tate has a difficult matchup looming on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Tate has been a reliable option in the passing game to take attention away from his counterpart, and filled in admirably for Johnson when he was injured in 2014. In Week 2, Tate even made his fantasy owners happy catching six passes for 80 yards.
Fantasy impact: Unfortunately, Tate doesn't have a great matchup on the horizon vs. a Denver Broncos defense that has made mincemeat of its opponents thus far. It shut down Joe Flacco and the Ravens, allowing just 117 passing yards in Week 1. Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs didn't fare much better the following Thursday.
Making matters worse, quarterback Matthew Stafford is dealing with a bruised rib that could potentially hamper his usual production. With so many factors going against Tate for Week 3, fantasy owners could not be faulted for looking at contingency plans. Tate is a low-end WR3 for Sunday.
