Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was relatively quiet in Week 1, with 12 fantasy points and only one total touchdown. Since then, he’s been a fantasy stud, with six total touchdowns against one turnover. That continued into Week 3 Sunday when Newton led the Panthers to a 27-22 win over the New Orleans Saints.
Cam Newton puts up second straight huge game; fantasy owners celebrate
The Carolina quarterback now has 55 fantasy points in his last two games. We break down the fantasy implications.

Newton completed 20 of his 31 pass attempts Sunday for a season-high 315 yards and two touchdowns. He added seven carries for 33 yards and one rushing touchdown, giving him a rushing score in two straight games and almost 700 passing yards on the season.
Fantasy impact: Many (most?) fantasy owners seriously downgraded Newton’s fantasy stock after the preseason injury to Kelvin Benjamin, under the thinking that Newton would be left without any viable pass catching weapons. That downgrade ignored two things: First, Greg Olsen continues to exist, and second, Newton has never really had a full stable of pass catchers. He’s succeeded in his career despite his supporting cast, not because of it.
Newton should be a strong fantasy option against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, but with the next two weeks including a bye and a game against the Seattle Seahawks on the road, the next week or two might be a good time to try and sell high.
