While the vast majority of the NBA world was watching the Warriors demolish the Spurs, DeMarcus Cousins was singlehandedly eroding the entire Hornets’ frontcourt. Charlotte already was missing Cody Zeller and Al Jefferson due to injury, leaving them with just Spencer Hawes, Tyler Hansbrough and Frank Kaminsky to contend with Cousins.
DeMarcus Cousins bullied the Hornets for a season-high 56 points
The Kings lost in the end, but we’re the real winners for seeing Boogie do that to the Hornets.

That ... did not work. Cousins bullied the Hornets’ frontcourt over and over and over again, eventually finishing with 56 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out on a dubious loose ball foul in double overtime. And yet, the Hornets, led by Troy Daniels’ 28 points on 8-11 from three-point range, somehow pulled out the 129-128 victory in the end.

— The Sports Daily (@SportsDailyBlog) January 26, 2016 Maybe the outcome is different if Cousins doesn’t foul out. It’s hard to pinpoint one single play because Cousins was that much of a battering ram. How do you stop this man?

— Sacramento Kings (@SacramentoKings) January 26, 2016 — Sacramento Kings (@SacramentoKings) January 26, 2016 No wonder Hawes, Marvin Williams and Hansbrough (in 19 minutes!) fouled out. The best they could do against a man that big, strong and quick was to hack him over and over. Cousins took 16 free throws, four of which were on and-1 opportunities.
This all came one game after he dropped 48 points on the Pacers. It’s also Cousins’ ninth 30-point, 10-rebound performance in the last 12 games. This is some good company.
