Fantasy football advice, Week 6: who to start/sit for New York Jets vs. Arizona Cardinals

Whether it’s injuries, bye weeks, or a hot waiver wire claim that muddles fantasy lineups, the factors which fantasy owners have to consider before hitting the submit button are always present and rarely uncomplicated. There’s only one way to combat this, and that’s parsing each game, one at a time. Here’s what needs to be considered when the New York Jets take on the Arizona Cardinals.

With Eric Decker out and Quincy Enunwa ailing, Brandon Marshall predictably went off against the Steelers in Week 5, boasting an 8-114-1 line. He will need to do battle with Patrick Peterson, but the Jets can expect to force-feed Marshall the football. He is a high-floor WR1

Enunwa could garner more targets if Peterson proves effective against Marshall, and if he gets those targets, he can do something with them. Fantasy owners in need of a flex could do worse than Enunwa, but could perhaps benefit more from Bilal Powell. Powell has drawn 17 targets over the last two games with Decker absent, and could continue to cut into the workload of Matt Forte if the Jets continue to be amid negative game scripts. Forte can be considered a low-end RB2/flex, and Powell deserves PPR consideration.

So far in 2016, Ryan Fitzpatrick has proven capable of feeding the football to Brandon Marshall, but little else. He can stay on waivers.

Larry Fitzgerald loves catching touchdowns so much that he didn’t let a game in which Drew Stanton started stop him from catching two more and upping his season total to five. Luckily for Fitzgerald, he faces a Jets defense that seems to love surrendering touchdowns, giving up 12 through the air in five games. Fitzgerald and a healthy Carson Palmer need to be started in all formats.

It’s worth mentioning that for all the shortcomings the Jets have in their secondary, they boast an elite defensive line that ranks second in the NFL in run defense. That could cap the upside of David Johnson on Sunday, but he is simply too good to bench.

John Brown could be in Week 6 what Sammie Coates was in Week 5, when Coates shredded the Jets for a 6-139-2 line. Brown was slow out of the gate but led the Cardinals in receiving yards in Palmer’s last two starts. With his footing back under him, Brown makes for a high-upside flex, but with risk as usual.

Until fantasy owners see Michael Floyd play like the 2015 version of himself, he does not deserve any fantasy consideration.
