Fantasy football advice, Week 4: who to start/sit for Los Angeles Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals

Dan Ciarrocchi reviews who should be in your fantasy lineups or benches for Sunday’s NFC West matchup.

Los Angeles Rams

Start ‘em

After a lethargic start to the season, fantasy owners were pleased to see Todd Gurley find the end zone twice in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now, against a Cardinals defense that was just shredded by LeSean McCoy and the Bills, Gurley is back on the RB1 radar, although expecting a similar performance to McCoy’s outburst is asking for too much.

Start ‘em?

Tavon Austin also showed signs of life, catching a long touchdown pass and totaling 104 yards during the Rams’ outburst. Though he will likely have to deal with Patrick Peterson for much of the day, Austin can still get manufactured touches in a game that could require the Rams to play serious catch-up on the road. Austin is a flex option with upside against a Cardinals defense looking to bounce back.

Sit ‘em

Case Keenum, Brian Quick, Kenny Britt and the rest of the Rams offense doesn’t need fantasy consideration for Sunday.

Arizona Cardinals

Slot receiver Larry Fitzgerald draws a matchup against a defense that was exploited by Adam Humphries, another slot receiver, for 100 yards on nine catches. Fitzgerald should easily bounce back to WR1 status against a team he has historically crushed, and Carson Palmer deserves QB1 consideration as well after a Week 3 dud.

David Johnson is David Johnson, which is the only reason fantasy owners need in order to start David Johnson #analysis.

Start ‘em?

John Brown showed signs of life, drawing 11 targets in a blowout loss to the Bills, however, the circumstances shouldn’t encourage fantasy owners. Brown drew many of these targets with the Cardinals far behind, and Michael Floyd also missed time due to a concussion. Brown can be considered a boom-or-bust-flex with Floyd recently in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Floyd is also a fringe flex option until he proves he is over the effects of his concussion, though being removed from the injury report bodes well for him.

Sit ‘em

Jaron Brown and Chris Johnson can safely remain on benches throughout the fantasy spectrum.
