The last time a team finished the season with an 0-16 record, the only time, it got the head coach fired. Even the Cleveland Browns’ current 0-10 record would be enough to get a coach fired during the season under normal circumstances. These are not normal circumstances in Cleveland.
Browns may finish 0-16, but they aren’t firing Hue Jackson
The head coach in Cleveland is safe this year no matter what happens.

Hue Jackson’s job is safe, even if the Browns lose their last six games and become the only the second team in NFL history to reach the dreaded 0-16 mark.
Jackson told the MMQB that he got assurances from the Browns that he would not be fired after his first season in Cleveland.
They said, ‘Hue, we are going to do this the right way. It might take a little time to get it to where it needs to be, but we are comfortable and confident in you, and you are the guy we want to have here to lead this team and this organization.’ That’s comforting.”
That would be comforting because under owner Jimmy Haslam the Browns have burned through head coaches. They’ve fired three head coaches since Haslam bought the team in 2012, including one, Rob Chudzinski, after just one year (2013).
So why are the Browns being so patient now? It’s all part of the plan.
They’re going through a dramatic rebuild, from the foundation up, something that requires a lot of turnover on the roster and a lot of understanding. In fact, they have a very good plan in place, with some specifics about the quarterback position, covered in the MMQB article, which you should go read. Now.
In the meantime, better get those Browns jokes out of your system right now, because it won’t be long and you won’t have the Browns to kick around anymore.
