Giants punter Brad Wing deserves an Oscar for this flop

And the Academy Award goes to ...

Running into the punter is a penalty for a reason. Kickers are prone just after they boot the ball. When their legs are high in the air, they are defenseless AND more susceptible to injuries.

That doesn’t mean that kickers don’t try to use the penalty to their advantage, however. New York Giants punter Brad Wing clearly saw Chicago Bears linebacker Sam Acho coming to attempt a punt block Sunday, and held his leg out in hopes that the referees would pull out their yellow flags.

A penalty would have given the Giants a first down on fourth-and-1, but the refs weren’t fooled. Nor was Acho, who shook his finger at Wing’s chicanery.

Still, we feel like Wing deserves something for the effort:
