Tom Brady and the Patriots beating the New York Jets isn’t such a feat in and of itself. Their rivalry aside, the Jets just aren’t very good again this year, even if the Patriots needed a late touchdown to get the 22-17 win. But there was something of historical significance about the Patriots racking up another victory this week.
Tom Brady tied Peyton Manning for the most wins by an NFL quarterback
And next week, the record will probably belong to Brady and Brady alone.

That was Brady’s 200th win, tying him with Peyton Manning for the most by any quarterback in the history of the NFL. With one more win, which will probably come next week at home against the Rams, Brady will have the record all to himself, with probably a few more wins to come between now and whenever their playoff run ends.
Brady’s 200 wins include playoff wins as well. If you cut it just to regular season wins, Brady is third with 178. Manning and Brett Favre are tied for the NFL record in that department with 186 apiece.
There’s one record Manning has that he says is unbreakable: the 112 touchdown passes he threw to Marvin Harrison, the most between a quarterback and a single receiver. Brady and Rob Gronkowski have a shot at that, but it’s still a stretch. Those two have combined for 67 touchdowns (73 if you include the postseason). Gronk’s health and Brady’s age — he’s 39 — might prevent that.
