Fantasy football advice, Week 12: Who to start/sit for Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos

Dan Ciarrocchi reviews who should be in fantasy lineups or on fantasy benches for Sunday night’s AFC West showdown.

Fantasy owners already had enough to deal with on Thanksgiving, whether it’s polarizing dishes, cliché racist uncles, or scalding themselves in the kitchen. So no one wants to add “being served a slice of awful fantasy lineup” to their list of gripes, which is completely understandable. So when the Chiefs take on the Broncos on Sunday night, it’s best for fantasy owners to at least attempt avoiding that outcome.

Kansas City Chiefs

Start ‘em

The Denver Broncos’ defense remains an elite one among the NFL, but teams have been able to run on them. That’s good news for Spencer Ware owners, as the Chiefs will likely have to run the ball to move the chains against the Broncos’ elite secondary. The Chiefs have the defense to allow them to remain balanced on offense, so fortunately, abandoning the run isn’t likely to be in the cards. Ware is a fringe RB1/RB2 and should be in lineups in both PPR and standard formats. Travis Kelce, who has been boom or bust all season, remains a TE1 despite his volatility and the poor matchup at hand.

Sit ‘em

With the Chiefs banged up as a whole on offense, Tyreek Hill, Alex Smith and Chris Conley can remain on fantasy benches against the NFL’s No. 2 pass defense.

Denver Broncos

Start ‘em

The Chiefs have allowed 121.7 rushing yards per game, and the Broncos would love to take some of the weight off of their young quarterback’s shoulders by letting Devontae Booker move the piles. Booker hasn’t been effective since C.J. Anderson was placed on injured reserve, but he still gets enough carries to put him squarely in RB2 territory. Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas have tougher sledding than Booker, but each receiver can be considered a high-floor flex option for Week 12.

Sit ‘em

Trevor Siemian, Jordan Norwood, Kapri Bibbs and Virgil Green can remain out of fantasy lineups altogether.
