It’s been a rough year for the Chicago Bears, and the team doesn’t have anything to lose at this point. So John Fox has more reason than ever to try out some bold strategies like a surprise onside kick.
Bears’ best play of the day is a successful onside kick that led to nothing
Connor Barth kicked a perfect onside to open the second half, but Matt Barkley ruined it with an interception.

On the kickoff to open the second half, Connor Barth perfectly dribbled a kick about 10 yards before Tennessee Titans linebacker Nate Palmer unsuccessfully tried to dive on the ball, allowing Chicago to recover.
Down 21-7 at halftime, it was a worthwhile risk for the Bears but ultimately led to nothing because Matt Barkley threw an interception on the ensuing drive — his second of the day.
Fox is reportedly on the hot seat due to the Bears’ regression in his second season in Chicago and he’s clearly willing to roll the dice to try and get the team on track. It just doesn’t look like the team has the offense to take advantage.
