Mike Conley suffers back injury, will be out indefinitely
The Grizzlies star could reportedly miss six to eight weeks.

Conley went down hard while taking a charge in the third quarter of Memphis’ 104-85 loss against Charlotte on Monday. The Grizzlies were 9-21 last season, including the playoffs, without their starting point guard in the rotation. They are 0-1 without him this year.

Other athletes to suffer the same transverse process injury include Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, and Brazilian soccer great Neymar.
Romo took a pain-killing shot to return to the game after suffering the injury and later missed only one game because of it.
Over the summer, the Grizzlies signed Conley to the most lucrative contract in NBA history — a five-year deal worth $153 million. He is averaging a career-high 19.7 points, 5.7 assists, and 1.4 steals while shooting 46.7 percent from deep and 89.7 percent from the foul line.
Memphis is currently 11-7, standing fifth in the Western Conference.
