Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook skip pregame pleasantries in first head-to-head matchup

No surprise there.

We’ve waited all night for the first on-court interaction between Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, and ... it never happened.

Westbrook stood all the way on one side of the court, and Durant went straight to his normal position without looking Westbrook’s way.

For what it’s worth, neither player is known for elaborate pregame handshakes with opponents, and Westbrook often stands by himself no matter the opponent. Still, their lack of action speaks volumes.

Their once strong relationship (at least according to them) has deteriorated publicly since Durant signed with the Warriors and text-messaged Westbrook to let him know. While Durant went out of his way to say the two are “still cool,” Westbrook has played coy while dropping a series of not-so-subtle digs.

The latest was his pregame ensemble, featuring a red shirt with the words “OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHER” on the front. Durant is an avid photographer and even received a media credential to take pictures at Super Bowl 50.

Westbrook denied any sort of connection, but it’s hard to believe him, given that he’s lobbed thinly veiled shots at Durant for months now.

The more important question: Will they interact the rest of the game?
