Dolphins blast refs after hit on Ryan Tannehill doesn’t get flagged

There will probably be some fines handed out in Miami.

There was hardly any good cheer in the Miami Dolphins locker room after defeating the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

In the midst of a battle to get into the playoffs, the Miami players picked a second fight with the officials. Specifically, they were outraged over the lack of a penalty against Calais Campbell after the Arizona defender collided with quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s knee late in the game — resulting in what Miami believes is a torn ACL.

“That’s what happens when you go low,” Dolphins guard Jermon Bushrod said to the Miami Herald. “That’s just what happens. We fight to protect quarterbacks. That’s a tough situation.”

Wideout Jarvis Landry took his criticism a step further:

“We’ve had to beat the team, the weather and the refs for a couple of weeks now,” Landry said. “It’s something that’s not my call to make, or anybody else’s call who is wearing jerseys. It’s those guys’ to make, and they didn’t make it.”

Miami used backup Matt Moore, who finished three-of-five passing for 47 yards, but that’s only part of the perceived slight. The Dolphins were penalized 14 times for 118 yards against the Cardinals — more than double what Arizona was flagged (seven penalties for 54 yards).

It doesn’t look like the officiating conversation — or controversy — in Miami is dying down any time soon.
