Morning Skate: Grading the current NHL All-Star vote leaders
Not bad. But could be better.

Lace ‘em up. Time for the Morning Skate.
YOU ALL ARE WRONG AND POSSIBLY RIGHT
The NHL All-Star Fan Vote is underway, with few shenanigans this year. The NHL recently released the running vote leaders for the team captaincies, and I’m here to grade your choices.
Atlantic
1. Carey Price, Montreal
A: Sure. He’s the league’s best goalie leading one of the best teams in the league this year (so far). This is fine.
2. Jaromir Jagr, Florida
A-: Look, Jagr should be the captain every single year until he retires. Especially since he JUST TIED MARK MESSIER LAST NIGHT.
3. Shea Weber, Montreal
B: This might be a bunch of fans rewarding a pretty good player having a decent season, but it feels like Marc Bergevin stuffing the ballot box.
4. Patrice Bergeron, Boston
B-: Deserved? Sure. But boring. If you’re going to vote for a Bruin vote for David Pastrnak, you fools.
5. Jack Eichel, Buffalo
C: He’s missed most of the season. C’mon.
Central
1. P.K. Subban, Nashville
C+: OK, this definitely feels like David Poile stuffing the ballot box.
2. Patrick Kane, Chicago
B: Sure.
3. Patrik Laine, Winnipeg
C+: A bad grade because he should be so much higher.
4. Jonathan Toews, Chicago
C+: Hasn’t played in a few weeks. Also uninspired.
5. Vladimir Tarasenko, St. Louis
C+: Should be at the top. Get it together, Central fans.
Metropolitan
1. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh
A: Sure.
2. Alex Ovechkin, Washington
A: Sure.
3. Phil Kessel, Pittsburgh
A: Sure.
4. Wayne Simmonds, Philadelphia
A: Sure.
5. John Tavares, NY Islanders
A: Sure.
Metropolitan as a whole: F
WHERE ARE THE BLUE JACKETS, PEOPLE.
Pacific
1. Connor McDavid, Edmonton
A+: This is correct.
2. Brent Burns, San Jose
B+: Also can’t argue with this, honestly.
3. Johnny Gaudreau, Calgary
B+: He missed a few weeks, but it’s nice to see fans giving Johnny Hockey his due.
4. Anze Kopitar, Los Angeles
B: Sure, but Peter Budaj should be here.
5. Joe Thornton, San Jose
B-: Sure.
Overall: B
There’s still time to fix this, people.
