J.R. Smith injures left knee during first quarter against the Raptors
The Cavs guard exited Monday night’s game against Toronto in the first quarter with a left knee injury.

The Cleveland Cavaliers re-signed J.R. Smith over the summer in hopes of keeping together a core that made back-to-back NBA Finals appearances, including a championship victory over the Golden State Warriors last year. But the Cavaliers’ two-way wing came up hobbled after an awkward landing ended with a left knee injury.
Smith went in the air to put up a floater in the first quarter of Monday’s game, but was unable to find his footing when he came down. He limped back on defense until his teammates intentionally fouled to get him out of the game.
Smith will not return to the game, the team announced.
