Klay Thompson’s 60-point game was so amazing Stephen Curry couldn’t even watch
Thompson’s 60-point barrage was so incredible it had the record books spinning and Steph Curry running for the tunnel.

Klay Thompson refused to cool off in an incredible 60-point performance over 29 minutes against the Pacers on Tuesday night. The Warriors went on to win, 142-106, behind one of the best shooting efforts in recent memory.
The Golden State shooting guard had his teammates going wild in the first half as he scored 40 points to help build a lead that ballooned to 30 by the break. He finished the game shooting 21-of-33 from the field, including 8-of-14 from three-point range, and 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
It’s the most points ever by someone to play for fewer than 30 minutes in an NBA game, and just the eighth 60-point game of the past 10 years. Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Gilbert Arenas are the only players to reach that mark in the past decade.
His teammates appreciated the whole thing.

Two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry lost full control of his bodily functions as he celebrated his teammate’s first-half explosion.

Chemistry is something the Warriors hang their hat on, and it seems none is lacking with this group of guys. Golden State racked up 25 assists to just two turnovers while jumping out to an 80-50 lead over the Pacers heading into halftime.
The Warriors’ 80-point half tied their highest-scoring half of the season. Just imagine what kind of speech Pacers coach Nate McMillan had to conjure up with a 30-point deficit at the half.
And then Thompson just kept shooting.
By the middle of the third quarter, the game was already out of hand and the biggest question was just how deep into the game Thompson would be allowed to play. On the one hand, it’d be disastrous if he got injured in a blowout, but on the other, who would want to stop such joy?
Thompson hit 60 points with nearly three minutes left in the third.
This is what 60 points looks like.

End of 3Q. @warriors 116, @Pacers 83 on @NBATV. #DubNation pic.twitter.com/10yx1Zt9df
We all wanted to see him go for even more buckets from there, but Steve Kerr did the responsible thing and pulled the star guard at the end of the third quarter. It’s hard to blame the coach, even if his smart and correct decision might’ve deprived us of Thompson going for 70, or even challenging Kobe Bryant’s 81.
In the end, we’ll just have to settle for a performance that still goes up among the best in NBA history. It may be a while (if ever) before we see anyone challenge Wilt Chamberlain’s record of 100 points in an NBA game, but at least we got to watch Thompson match that pace for three quarters.
