The Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves tried to initiate a trade that would send Ricky Rubio to the Bucks, but were unable to reach an agreement, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
NBA trade rumors 2016: Possible Ricky Rubio trade to Bucks fell apart
Jason Kidd has an interest in the point guard, but a trade couldn’t be worked out.

Rubio has reportedly been dangled as possible trade bait as Thursday’s deadline approaches, but no team has been able to offer the Timberwolves an enticing enough package. The Bucks reportedly made a last-ditch effort, but it was once again for naught.
The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Jason Kidd had a piqued interest in Rubio, but the Bucks didn't have enough tools or were unable to part with their own stars to acquire the Spaniard.
Rubio, 25, has a similar playing style to Kidd, which may be why Kidd is so interested in the point guard. Rubio is a wizard with the basketball, but struggles with his shot. In his fifth year in the league Rubio is averaging 9.7 points and 8.6 assists per game. He is shooting 36.1 percent from the field and under 30 percent from deep.
The young Timberwolves are struggling to find a groove. At only 17-37, they have the third-worst record in the West. Rubio has paired well at times with the young core of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, but the Timberwolves could be looking for a new start at point guard -- they might even give Zach LaVine some chances to run the point.
With the latest stalled talks, however, it appears Rubio will be in Minnesota for the rest of the year.
