It comes as no surprise to the basketball world at large, but the UConn Huskies have once again earned themselves the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Women’s Tournament.
Women’s NCAA bracket 2016: UConn, Notre Dame are the teams to beat again
Can the UConn Huskies get their fourth straight championship? Or will Notre Dame have enough to finally bring them down this year?

The Huskies, who come into the tournament standing at 32-0 and have won three straight national championships, will follow the lead of Breanna Stewart (19.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game) as she and her squad look to make history as the first women’s team to win four consecutive NCAA titles.
The Huskies (No. 1 seed in the Bridgeport region) will open their title defense when they play at 11 a.m. ET March 19 against No. 16 Robert Morris University.
The other four No. 1 seeds in the tournament -- Notre Dame (Lexington region), Baylor (Dallas region) and South Carolina (Sioux Falls region) -- will be looking at a chance to bring the Huskies down. In order to do that, they’ll have to advance to the Final Four or the NCAA championship game.
Notre Dame has been there before, having fallen to UConn, 63-53, in 2015’s title tilt and 79-58 in 2014’s championship game. The Fighting Irish will open the tournament against No. 16 North Carolina A&T March 19 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Baylor will play No. 16 Idaho at 5 p.m. ET March 18, the same day South Carolina starts the tournament against No. 16 Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The tournament will conclude April 5 in Indianapolis.
