Chris Colabello was one of the Toronto Blue Jays’ best stories last year. The first baseman erupted for 15 home runs after crawling out of the independent leagues and being discarded by the Minnesota Twins. He took a circuitous path to the majors and succeeded. People love those stories, and he quickly became a fan favorite.
Blue Jays’ Chris Colabello suspended for 80 games after positive PED test
The slugging first baseman tested positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, a steroid on the banned-substances list.

This year is already quite different. After starting the season with a dreadful 2-for-29 slump, Colabello was suspended for 80 games after testing positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, a steroid. Major League Baseball announced the suspension on their official Twitter account.
Colabello released a statement regarding the suspension:
On March 13, I got one of the scariest and most definitely the least expected phone calls of my entire life. I was informed by the Players Association that a banned substance was found in my urine. I have spent every waking moment since that day trying to find an answer as to why or how? The only thing I know is that I would never compromise the integrity of the game of baseball. I love this game too much! I care too deeply about it. I am saddened more for the impact this will have on my teammates, the organization and the fans of the Toronto Blue Jays. I hope that before anyone passes judgement on me they can look at the man I am, and everything that I have done to get where I am in my career.
The Blue Jays will likely use Justin Smoak as their primary first baseman with the absence of Colabello, who won’t be eligible to return until July
