Stephen Curry will return from ankle injury in Game 4 vs. Rockets

The Warriors will have their MVP back for Game 4.

Stephen Curry’s injury absence will end when the Warriors take on the Rockets in Sunday’s Game 4, according to coach Steve Kerr. Kerr told the media on Saturday that he “would expect” Curry to return from a right ankle injury for that game, and he is indeed active.

Curry sat out the last two games in this series after injuring himself in the first half of Golden State’s Game 1 victory. He’s said that he wanted to play in both games, but Kerr and the Warriors have taken the cautious route and sat him down instead.

But with the Warriors’ series lead down to 2-1 after a one-point Rockets victory in Game 3, the time appears to have come for Curry to return. Curry reportedly did well during 3-on-3 drills between games and said Friday that he’d be “very” surprised if he did not return for Game 4. Now, his coach agrees.

The Warriors played in safe in large part because it was Curry’s right ankle that caused him to miss significant chunks of the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. He has avoided serious injury since, but that fear understandably looms.

Golden State won fairly comfortably in Game 2 without Curry, but fell at the end of Game 3 on a James Harden step-back jumper. Meanwhile, their biggest rivals in San Antonio appear poised to complete a sweep after a Game 3 victory over the Grizzlies.
