The Tennessee Titans did something pretty unusual to cap the 2016 NFL Draft.
The Titans traded for Mr. Irrelevant and it threw off the end of the NFL Draft
Wrong jersey, NFL. But it’s an understandable mistake.
The Denver Broncos, having won the Super Bowl back in February, held the last pick in the draft, reserved for the selection of the event’s 253rd player this year, affectionately nicknamed “Mr. Irrelevant.” The last pick in the draft isn’t a popular trading commodity, because it’s fairly implausible that any team picking last in the draft would pick the one player some other team would want and couldn’t just sign as an undrafted free agent.
For some reason, the Titans decided to trade for the last pick, which they spent on Southern Miss defensive back Kalan Reed. Sort of weird, but hey, it’s fun! Except Reed’s career in Tennessee is off to a bit of a weird start, courtesy of the draft’s organizers apparently not being prepared for the possibility of Mr. Irrelevant being traded.
At least they got the helmet right?
