The Philadelphia 76ers have won the NBA Draft lottery. The Los Angeles Lakers will take second pick and the Boston Celtics will pick third in a lottery that went exactly to form.
Philadelphia 76ers win 2016 NBA Draft lottery
The 76ers will have a choice between Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram.
The 76ers came in with the best odds of winning the first pick -- they had a 25 percent chance at nabbing the top spot. The Lakers had a 19.9 percent chance to snag the top spot and the Boston Celtics had a 15.6 percent chance because they own the rights to the Brooklyn Nets' pick.
Now, they’ll have to decide who they’re going to take. LSU’s Ben Simmons and Duke’s Brandon Ingram are the top prospects in this year’s draft after stellar seasons as college freshmen.
Simmons has been the projected No. 1 pick since signing at LSU in November 2014 as the 2015 high school class’ top prospect. LSU didn’t make the NCAA Tournament, and even declined entering other postseason tournaments, but Simmons still impressed in his short collegiate career. He averaged an incredible 19 points and 12 rebounds
Ingram, meanwhile, impressed in his lone season with the Blue Devils. He averaged 17.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as he led Duke to the Sweet 16 -- where they were beaten by Oregon.
We know who has the top pick, now we wait to find out who they’ll take.
Here’s how the rest of the lottery shook out:
