Preakness Stakes 2016: Live stream for the post position draw

Here’s how to catch the post draw ahead of this weekend’s 2016 Preakness Stakes, where Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist will look to take a second step toward the Triple Crown at Pimlico.

After claiming the Kentucky Derby on May 7 at Churchill Downs, Nyquist will look to secure the second leg of the Triple Crown this weekend at Pimlico in the 2016 Preakness Stakes. The draw for the race will take place today at 5 p.m. ET, so trainer Doug O’Neill will know where his colt, now a perfect 8-0, will line up for the 1-3/16 mile competition.

The draw won’t be televised, but it can be streamed from 5 p.m. ET on Daily Racing Forum.

Exaggerator, the son of 2007 Preakness Stakes winner Curlin who finished second go Nyquist in the Kentucky Derby, will likely be the second betting favorite behind the Triple Crown contender for Saturday’s contest. Exaggerator, who is trained by Keith Desormeaux and jockeyed by brother Kent, has lost four times previously to Nyquist, but came on strong late in his runner-up finish at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May.

Third-place Derby finisher Gun Runner won’t be taking part in the festivities at Pimlico, with trainer Steve Asmussen electing to hold out until the Belmont Stakes to run the 3-year-old again. Abiding Star will enter the Preakness in a good run of form, having won the Parx Derby in his last time out, and Lani -- who finished ninth at Churchill Downs -- had an impressive close on Derby Day despite a middle-of-the-pack finish.
