Kentucky Oaks 2016: Post time and TV schedule

The race can be seen at 5:49 p.m. ET on NBCSN or streamed via NBC Sports Live Extra.

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The 2016 Kentucky Oaks will feature a full field on Friday afternoon at Churchill Downs, headlined by morning line favorite Rachel’s Valentina. While Rachel’s Valentina enters as the betting favorite (7-2 odds) with the most career earnings of any horse in the field, she’s not a runaway favorite as Weep No More and Cathryn Sophia sit just behind with 9-2 odds.

Post time for the $1 million, one-and-one-eighth-mile Kentucky Oaks race is 5:49 p.m. ET, and the event will be broadcast on NBCSN and streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra. While the main event is set for 5:49, you can view all of the day's build-up action from Churchill Downs starting at noon ET.

Rachel’s Valentina has a legacy of Oaks success as the daughter of 2009 Oaks winner Rachel Alexandra. Weep No More, however, enters Friday with a three-race win streak intact after a victory at Keeneland earlier this month, a win that featured a 13.5-length comeback to edge out -- you guessed it -- Rachel’s Valentina. Weep No More is a closer with great kick throughout the final eighth, and her come-from-behind triumph at the Ashland Stakes was exemplary of that. Cathryn Sophia finished third in that race after a four-race win streak to start her career.

Land Over Sea (5-1 odds) and Lewis Bay (8-1) also enter the main event as horses to watch. Land Over Sea comes in with eight career starts, five of which were against undefeated champion Songbird, who was declared out for the Oaks due to illness. Lewis Bay is fresh off a one-and-one-eighth-mile win in the Grade II Gazelle on April 9.
