NBCSN will show nearly the entire day’s worth of events beginning at noon, with streaming coverage for those away from their televisions available on Live Extra. Twelve races are scheduled in all, with the Oaks the 11th on the schedule.
A trio of 3-year-old fillies lead the betting odds after a lingering fever forced Songbird to end her Oaks bid in mid-April. She would have been the heavy favorite after finishing as the top 2-year-old at the Breeders’ Cup last year.
Instead Rachel’s Valentina (7-2), Weep No More (9-2) and Cathryn Sophia (9-2) are all bunched together in betting. There’s a good reason for that: When the three competed in the Ashland Stakes on April 9, only about a nose length separated first place from third. Weep No More took the victory, with trainer Todd Pletcher’s charge, Rachel’s Valentina, just ahead of the favorite, Cathryn Sophia.
Land Over Sea at 5-1 and Lewis Bay at 8-1 could also lay claim to the Garland of Lilies before the day is done.
The day’s first race begins at 10:30 a.m., with eight scheduled between noon and 6 p.m.
