    Oh well, it was bound to happen when we see a minimum of 60 playoff games every season. You probably should have seen that screening of Civil War and checked the highlights on your way out of the theater, all things considered.

    Lightning push Islanders to the brink in 2-1 OT win

    The Lightning will take a 3-1 series lead back home to put the Islanders on the brink of elimination after besting New York 2-1 in a short overtime period.

    A secondary delay to start the third period halted play for another 10 or so minutes, as the ice crew helped repair damage done to the boards from a Zamboni. The Lightning benefited from the stoppage and broke Greiss’ shutout 7:49 into the period to tie the game. Nikita Kucherov’s quick wrist shot beat Greiss from in front of the net between the goaltender’s body and the left post for the 1-1 equalizer.

    Islanders swap goalies because of skate malfunction

    Skates are pretty imperative when playing hockey. Without them, you wouldn’t be able to do much of anything, let alone play a game of hockey on a sheet of ice.

    Greiss needed the aid of a pair of teammates to get to the bench so the trainers could make repairs on his skate. The delay took so long, however, that Greiss was sent off the ice to the locker room to get it fixed, leaving the Islanders without their starting netminder right before a Lightning power play!
