GOODBYE, MR. HOCKEY
Sad news breaking this morning: Gordie Howe, also known as Mr. Hockey, has passed away at 88. We'll have more on this today and over the weekend as we mourn his passing, but for now here's a collection of Gordie posts from around our network over the last few years you might enjoy:
- In March, Red Wings fans sang happy birthday to Mr. Hockey in an emotional moment.
- A Red Wings fan shares a great story about the time he and Howe walked through the walls of an arena. You read that correctly.
- After Howe suffered a stroke in 2014, Red Wings fans at Joe Louis Arena offered up this tribute.
- As always, Keith Olbermann's tribute to Gordie Howe is worth sharing.
Rest in peace, Gordie.
GAME 5 REACTIONS
It seems we all wrote off the San Jose Sharks too quickly. Thanks to a Game 5 for the ages for Martin Jones, we get at least another three days of hockey. Here's some tidbits and takeaways from last night's game:
- First of all: the save. It was ridiculous, it was fantastic and it might go down in San Jose lore.
- Brent Burns warred with Penguins fans before Game 5, Antonio Brown took pictures with them in the bathroom and thousands of them massed in downtown Pittsburgh all night. Quite a scene all around.
- Crosby and the Penguins face a legacy of adversity now.
- Finally, here's recaps from our perspective and our Penguins and Sharks blogs.
MOCK DRAFT TIME
With the offseason nearly upon us, our blogs are getting their annual mock draft underway. Follow every pick, every day, right here. The picks so far:
- Toronto picks that one dude from that one place.
- Winnipeg picks the other dude from that other place.
- And you’ll have to just follow along here for the rest! Hah. I got you.
