Family, friends and fans pay tribute to Muhammad Ali during inspiring memorial service

Joshua Lindsey-USA TODAY Sports

A week after his passing, Muhammad Ali was buried on Friday, as part of a two-day funeral he’d reportedly planned prior to his death. For 18 miles, a motorcade drove through the streets of Louisville, and during the procession, fans ran alongside the cars as a tribute to the late boxer.

Will Smith, who portrayed Ali in the 2001 film, was in one of the cars, and greeted fans during the trip:

And outside of the motorcade, fans spent their time celebrating his life:

After his burial at Cave Hill Cemetery, a memorial service was held at KFC Yum! Center with a number of speakers sharing their favorite stories and recounting his life. Billy Crystal was among them, telling great stories mixed in with some classic jokes about their friendship during a wonderful eulogy.

The list of speakers was a long one, from members of the Ali family to Bill Clinton to Rabbi Michael Lerner and many more. The entire memorial service can be found below thanks to video from the Courier-Journal.
