SO, ABOUT THAT MUST-WIN ...

Well. San Jose didn’t win that important Game 2. They were downed, once again, by a Penguins rookie. It’s weird that we keep talking about a pair of rookies and a line of Rangers, Leafs and Ducks cast-offs as Penguins playoff heroes, but here we are.

Not that Sidney Crosby isn't having a tremendous impact. He played two important roles in Game 2: he drew up the game-winning play and bugged the living hell out of Joe Thornton. And don't ask Logan Couture about Crosby and faceoffs.

Here’s some other notes from a terrific Game 2:

ADD HIM TO THE FREE AGENCY PILE

Apparently Andrew Ladd's reunion with the Blackhawks will be short-lived. Chicago has told the unrestricted free agent that they won't be offering him a new contract, according to reports. It makes sense considering Ladd had eight goals and 12 points in 19 regular season games with the 'Hawks, but his addition was all about making a run at the Stanley Cup. It didn't work out, and now the Blackhawks must part ways due to their eternally problematic salary cap situation. He's gritty, a leader and plays hard. Is there any doubt he'll sign with the Blues?

NEW JERSEYS NEW JERSEYS NEW JERSEYS

Calm down, Devils fans. This isn't about you. The Florida Panthers will unveil their new jerseys and logos tonight! When the internet complains about this, just know that they are wrong.

FAMILY FEUD

The Hurricanes owner is in for some awkward Thanksgiving dinners. Turns out that Peter Karmanos, Jr.'s three sons are suing him for $105 million. Yes. His offspring want $105 million from him. The elder Karmanos allegedly transferred funds from a family trust fund. No word on whether he used that money to pay for the Hurricanes. But if he did ... hey, if someone took money from me to pay for Alexander Semin then I'd probably sue them, too.
