During Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Matthew Dellavedova walloped Andre Iguodala right in the genitals:
Game 1 of the NBA Finals got heated over an accidental shot to the groin
The postseason of the nutshot rolls on.
Iguodala was understandably upset, and there was a bit of a tussle. But cooler heads prevailed, and after the officials watched replay, they determined that Dellavedova was going for the ball, not the balls. Dellavedova was swiping, but Iguodala moved his arm at the last second and Dellavedova’s arm hit something he wasn’t intending to hit. He was assessed with a common foul, not a technical.
This is the third example of penis assault this postseason. First, Cleveland benchwarmer Dahntay Jones slapped Raptors big man Bismack Biyombo in the groin during garbage time of an Eastern Conference Finals game and received a one-game suspension. And the next day, Warriors star Draymond Green kicked Steven Adams in the junk, although the league ruled that it was merely a dangerous kick, not an intentional one, and opted not to suspend him.
This incident won’t cause a controversy -- pretty much everybody agrees it was inadvertent -- but we should all celebrate the fact that this year has been a banner postseason for the NBA nutshot.
