Morning Skate: We’re not quite ready for the NHL season to end
But that’s up to the Sharks.

Lace ‘em up. Time for the Morning Skate.

IS THIS THE END?
Hello. The NHL season could end tonight. I’ll wait while you wipe away those tears.
...
Cool. The city of Pittsburgh is already preparing for major shenanigans if the Penguins skate the Cup tonight, which leads us to this obligatory request: please don't riot, Pittsburgh. It's unbecoming. Tip over your trash can at home if you must, but leave those poor downtown cars alone.
- San Jose is, of course, hoping there's nothing for Pittsburgh to celebrate tonight. But they're preparing for heartbreak, nonetheless.
- It might sound like a cliche, but the Sharks really do have to focus on one game at a time at this point. Especially since they haven't led a game in this series.
- Here are three reasons why the Penguins are a win away from a Stanley Cup.
- And, if they do win, will the rest of the league copy their style?
MOCK DRAFT TIME
With the offseason nearly upon us, our blogs are getting their annual mock draft underway. Follow every pick, every day, right here.
THIS JUST WON’T GO AWAY, WILL IT
Remember that whole Dennis Wideman suspension saga that started four months ago? It's still a thing, two months after the Flames' season ended. Wideman served 19 games of his original 20-game suspension before an arbitrator reduced it to ten. Now the NHL is suing the NHLPA over it. Yay.
OFFSEASON RUMOR CORNER
Considering the season might end tonight, it’s time to get the offseason rumor mill underway and churning. Here’s a handful of tidbits from across the league:
- The Blackhawks want to get rid of Bryan Bickell ... at the expense of Teuvo Teravainen?
- And that's it for the rumors. It's almost like there's an important playoff game tonight and nobody has time to speculate.
