MLB All-Star Game 2016: Royals’ Eric Hosmer gets MVP nod

The Kansas City Royals standout drove in two runs -- including a game-tying solo home run in the second inning -- to help the American League to the 2016 MLB All-Star Game victory.

There wasn't much in the way of scoring in the 2016 MLB All-Star Game, but what scoring there was came mostly from royalty.

The American League earned a 4-2 victory over the National League on Tuesday night in San Diego, and all four of its runs came off the bats of Kansas City Royals. One of those Royals -- first baseman Eric Hosmer -- earned most valuable player honors following the game.

Hosmer went 2-for-3 during the contest, knocking in a solo home run in the second inning to tie the game, 1-1, and adding another RBI in the third inning to put the American League's fourth and final run on the scoreboard. His shot off Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto in the second inning was one of the game's bigger highlights:

This year’s game marked the first All-Star appearance for Hosmer, who has hit .299 with 13 homers and 49 RBI in 87 games this season.

The American League's other two runs were scored when fellow Royals' All-Star Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer in the second inning to give his team the lead.
