James Corden’s parents went to ‘WWE Raw’ and became best friends with The New Day

James Corden — one of England’s more recent, carpool karaoke-ing exports to American television — seems like a really great son. Reason being is that he has a close relationship with his parents, Malcolm and Margaret, to the point where he gets them to do remote segments for The Late Late Show. And you can tell they’re not just great parents, but wonderful people as well, because they’re game for anything, whether it’s interviewing NFL players in their locker rooms, or going to Super Bowl 50.
When WWE flew over to London for a taping of Raw in April, Corden’s parents got to cover the event, and the experience went just as well as their time covering the NFL at Wembley Stadium. I appreciate the Cordens in finding the humor in juxtaposing large, muscly athletes with a small, elderly couple from London, because it doesn’t get old. And props to the WWE superstars for playing along, like Big Show hugging Margaret, R-Truth rapping over Malcolm’s beatboxing, and The New Day essentially letting them be part of the team. Seriously, The New Day is the best part of this segment, which isn’t surprising because they’re consistently one of the most entertaining tag teams in wrestling.
Who can resist seeing a hug between Big E and Margaret, or stomach tricks between Xavier Woods and Malcolm — actually, now that I think about it, there are plenty of folks who could’ve done without the latter.
