Timofey Mozgov signed his Lakers contract while wearing a Lil’ Kev shirt

He will always have Lil’ Kev in his heart (and on his chest).

Maybe you’ve heard of Lil’ Kev, or maybe you haven’t. In case you haven’t, here’s the backstory: During a flight from Detroit, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Richard Jefferson found someone in a Tommy Bahama magazine ad that looked like Kevin Love, to the point where it became a running joke among the team.

“We saw Lil’ Kev in a magazine and we just started giving Big Kev a lot of crap, even though it’s not him,” said Jefferson. “It’s not him and that makes it even funnier.”

The name “Lil’ Kev” is simply a reference to State Farm’s “Meet the Hoopers” commercials, where Love plays a teenager.

Lil’ Kev has pretty much become associated with Jefferson and the 2015-16 Cavaliers, something for the team to remember by as players go on their separate ways during the offseason. On Friday, Timofey Mozgov, now with the Los Angeles Lakers, officially signed his deal. As bittersweet as it may be for Cavs fans, Mozgov wore one small shoutout to his old team: a Lil’ Kev shirt.

(Sidenote: It could be argued the real Lil’ Kev is actually this Disneyland employee, but that’s not canon in the Cavaliers universe. Also, if the Tommy Bahama model and that Disneyland employee played on the Cavs with Love, that would be spectacular and confusing for everyone.)
