The Phoenix Suns had playoff hopes coming into last season and instead finished with the second-worst record in franchise history. Yet there’s optimism for the future, thanks to the emergence of Devin Booker and a promising draft that landed them two lottery picks in Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss.

But as many Suns fans know, the picture has often looked bright on paper in recent years. The question is whether the organization has the right mindset to nurture their talent properly.

In our latest offseason podcast, Dave King, managing editor of SB Nation’s Suns community Bright Side of the Sun, joins us to review Phoenix’s offseason and look ahead to its future. Among the topics discussed:

  • What kind of coach is Earl Watson?
  • What can fans expect from Bender and Chriss, both now and in the future?
  • How good can Devin Booker be? Is it time to completely turn the team over to him? Should the Suns trade Brandon Knight to give Booker more room?
  • Can Eric Bledsoe stay healthy and lead this team into the future? What about Alex Len and T.J. Warren?
  • Should Suns fans be upset that the organization didn’t do more to bring Amar’e Stoudemire back into the fold before he retired? Do his comments that Phoenix never made an effort to bring him back have any merit? How much should fans be concerned about yet another former player criticizing the way the organization has communicated?

Next up in our offseason series: the Minnesota Timberwolves.
