Olympic swimming 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Wednesday’s events online

The men’s 100-meter freestyle final highlights swimming action Wednesday in Rio.

It’s another big day in the pool at the 2016 Olympics in Rio as the men’s 100-meter freestyle final is set to go down. That’s the highlight of the night session at Olympic Aquatics Stadium on Wednesday, with American Nathan Adrian looking to defend his gold medal in one of swimming’s marquee events. You can watch all the events live via a stream provided by NBCOlympics.com.

The day starts off with the afternoon session beginning at noon ET, which will see the individual debut of Ryan Lochte in Rio. He’ll be swimming in the preliminary heats for the 200-meter individual medley, an event he’s historically done well in at the Olympics. In 2004 and 2012, he won silver, and in 2008, he won bronze.

Men’s 200-meter backstroke, women’s 100-meter freestyle, women’s 200-meter breaststroke and women’s 4x200-meter freestyle relay will round out the heats on schedule for Wednesday.

The big focus will be on the night session, however, led by Adrian’s defense in the 100-meter freestyle final. The eight-man, two-lap race is one of the exciting events in competitive swimming and a great reason to tune in to NBC Sports on Wednesday.

Adrian finished first in the men’s 100-meter freestyle at the U.S. national team trials in late June, which secured his spot in Rio this month.

The other finals set for the night session are the men’s 200-meter breaststroke, women’s 200-meter butterfly and women’s 4x200-meter freestyle relay. The Americans won last that event back in 2012 with a team led by Missy Franklin and Dana Vollmer.

It’s a lot of swimming, but some of these events will be must-watch action in the pool. Here’s how to watch it all Wednesday via NBC Sports:
