Rio 2016, beach volleyball schedule: Time, TV schedule and live stream for Thursday’s Olympic action

It’s the last day of the group phase for beach volleyball in Rio.

The final day of the group phase for beach volleyball at the 2016 Olympics is here. Starting on Friday, we'll be in the elimination tournament format, so this is the last chance for teams to improve their seeding and avoid being one of the eight teams left out of the Round of 16.

NBC's coverage of Thursday's competition can be watched online through NBC Olympics.

Both American teams will be comfortably into the next stage, but Lauren Fendrick and Brooke Sweat have one more preliminary match left. They'll be facing Evgenia Ukolova and Ekaterina Birlova of Russia on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in their final match of the group phase.

Following all the matches during the day, a pair of "lucky loser" matches will be played to determine which teams will fill out the remainder of the 16-team bracket. There are six groups and the top two finishers in each group automatically make the Round of 16. After that, the teams that finished third in each group are ranked, and the top two from that list are automatically qualified, as well. The four remaining teams will be placed in the "lucky loser" matches, with the two winners making the bracket. Each team that finishes fourth in their respective group is automatically eliminated.

Here's the full schedule for beach volleyball on Thursday in Rio, and how to watch it live online.
