Olympic swimming 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Friday’s events online

The biggest names in American swimming are in action Friday night.

Erich Schlegel-USA TODAY Sports

It’s a big day of swimming at the 2016 Olympics as Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky will be among the stars in the pool. Both Olympic gold medal winners will look to add to their totals during a night session full of big finals.

As usual, all eyes will be on Phelps in the final for the men’s 100-meter butterfly, which is historically one of his best races. He owns both the world and Olympic records, has won the past three Olympic gold medals and is coming off another gold at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships. Phelps is the greatest swimmer of all time, and rarely does he look as dominant as in this event.

And at age 31, Phelps is still rolling. He’ll look to toss at least one more medal onto the pile Friday night.

Ledecky will also be looking to win gold in a race where she own the world record in the women’s 800-meter freestyle final. At the 2012 Olympics in London, she won gold in this event at age 15, and earlier this year, she lowered the world record.

These are the biggest names in American swimming, which makes Friday night one of the most exciting in Rio. Here’s the full swimming schedule for the day and how to watch online via NBC Sports.

All times Eastern.
