Canada’s Rosie MacLennan wins Olympic gold medal in women’s trampoline
Rosie McLennan successfully defended her Olympic gold medal in the women’s trampoline final.

Great Britain’s Bryony Page won the silver medal and China’s Li Dan won the bronze medal. Both are first-time Olympic medalists.
MacLennan, 27, has established herself as one of Canada’s best athletes. She’s won back-to-back gold medals on the trampoline after finishing seventh in her Olympic debut at the 2008 Games in Beijing. This year, she was the country’s flag bearer during the Opening Ceremony in Rio.
In qualification, MacLennan finished third while Belarus’ Tatsiana Piatrenia and Dan took the top two spots. Piatrenia couldn’t sustain that effort through the final, however, and fell out of the top three.
While the U.S. gymnastics team has been one of the big stories during these Olympics thanks to Simone Biles and Aly Raisman, there weren’t any Americans competing on the trampoline in the final. Only one American, Nicole Ahsinger, participated in qualifying and she finished 15th out of 16.
