Katie Ledecky is still golden. She set a World and Olympic record en route to her fourth gold medal with a win in the 800-meter freestyle, swimming 8:04.79 to break her own world record by nearly two seconds. She won the title by over 11 seconds.
Olympic swimming results 2016: Katie Ledecky wins gold and breaks world record in women’s 800m freestyle
Ledecky dominated once again to win her fourth gold medal.

It was another clinic in the water as Ledecky raced the yellow world record line from the opening gun, jumping out on it from the opening lap and inching further and further in front of it as the race went on. At times, she was more than a body length ahead of world record pace. She went on to win, adding another gold to match the medals she won in the 200- and 400-meter freestyle.
Jazmin Carlin finished second to take silver and Boglárka Kapás won bronze.
It was another display of pure domination from Ledecky, who remained undefeated in individual events in the pool. Her only loss came in the 4x100m relay, where the U.S. women took silver. It’s the fifth gold of her career -- she won the 800-meter freestyle in London, shocking the field as a 15-year-old.
Since that shocking win, Ledecky hasn’t looked back. She’s the second swimmer to win the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle in the Olympic Games -- the 800 win capped her already breathtaking Rio games. There was almost no doubt she would win the 800 -- she had set four world records in the 800 since the London Games.
Once again, Ledecky left no doubt.
