Beach volleyball at the 2016 Olympics continues Saturday with more Round of 16 games in Rio. The first set of elimination matches went down Friday following the preliminary round, and we'll move on to the semifinals on Sunday and Monday.
The NBC family of networks will televise Saturday's beach volleyball action, starting with USA at 10 a.m. ET, with coverage shifting to Telemundo at 2 p.m. and NBCSN at 3 p.m.
Nighttime action will be televised by NBC, beginning at 5 p.m., with online streaming available all day from NBC Sports.
Friday featured some marquee matches, but the headliner on Saturday is probably the men's duo of Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt of Brazil in their Round of 16 match against Adrian Gavira and Pablo Herrera of Spain. Brazil was 2-1 in Pool A play, and Cerutti won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics in London.
The Netherlands duo of Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen were undefeated in Pool B, and in their first Round of 16 match on Saturday battle Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk of Canada.
The women's quarterfinals are set for Sunday, followed by the semifinals on Tuesday, the bronze medal match on Wednesday and the gold medal match on Thursday. For the men, everything is pushed back a day, with the bronze medal match on Thursday and the gold medal match on Friday.
