With yet another gold medal, Jamaican superstar sprinter Usain Bolt has again reinforced what we already knew -- Bolt is, because of both the results and the sustainability of his dominance, above and beyond his sport, perhaps more than any athlete alive at the moment. What absolutely can’t be questioned, by the way, is the degree to which he knows this.
Usain Bolt’s Olympic 100m final is both evolution and an anomaly

In winning the gold medal in the 100-meter sprint for the third consecutive Olympics, Bolt not only cemented his status one of the greatest athletes ever, but through his confidence and casual ability to finish races while actually watching his opponents cross the finish behind him, he’s also easily one of the greatest performers to step foot on the athletics stage.
What also continues to be astonishing, even though we’ve seen him run on the international stage for over a decade, is the fact that such a tall runner could dominate a race like the 100. While some may claim that the natural evolution of sprinters may be in the direction of taller runners with stride advantages, that Bolt can build up speed in only 100 meters is something that just shouldn’t happen.
We’ve officially now reached the point that it doesn’t even matter what should or shouldn’t happen the rest of the week or the rest of his career, there isn’t much left to prove.
