The Mountain from ‘Game of Thrones’ does a subpar, yet still menacing cannonball

“The Mountain” from Game of Thrones — government name Hafþór Björnsson — is a visibly large, hulking man, whose body was made possible by a ridiculous diet, and running around with a dog that’s a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of his size. You were probably wondering what it’d look like if he did a cannonball. On Thursday, Björnsson delivered your fantasy.
Is this a good cannonball? At the very least it’s a good cannonball attempt, but it probably doesn’t count as a true cannonball, because it requires one to wrap their hands around their legs. Björnsson doesn’t really do that. Look at The Starters’ Trey Kerby — that man turned cannonballs into an art form worthy of an Explosions in the Sky soundtrack.
Does Björnsson make a big splash anyway? Oh god yeah. He’s huge, and this is to be expected. But watching him cannonball is like watching a boulder break off a tall mountain (heh) and fall into a lake. I know this was in a pool, but if it took place in an actual lake, fish would definitely die there. (That’s probably hyperbole, but “The Mountain” deserves all the hyperbolic jokes about his size.)
