Olympics 2016, volleyball schedule: Time, TV schedule and live stream for women’s gold and bronze medal games

The bronze medal match between the United States and the Netherlands will begin at noon ET, and it will be aired on MSNBC. The U.S. is a surprise entrant in this match, as they were a heavy favorite for gold after reaching the finals in each of the last two Olympics. Their chances looked even better when Brazil, to whom they lost in each of those two previous finals appearances, got knocked out in the quarterfinals this time around. But it was not meant to be, as the Americans were upset by Serbia in a razor-thin five-set semifinal contest, with a 15-13 score in the deciding set.
The Netherlands, which has never won an Olympic medal in women’s volleyball, got here after falling to China in the other semifinal match. The Dutch team played the U.S. during the preliminary round, but lost in five sets.
That leaves Serbia and China duking it out in the gold medal match at 9:15 p.m. ET, with TV coverage on NBC. China entered the tournament ranked as one of the top three teams (along with the U.S. and Brazil), while Serbia was only the sixth-best squad. It was China who knocked out the host country of Brazil, in a five-set thriller.
