The final day of gymnastics competition at the 2016 Olympics is here with the rhythmic gymnastics group all-around finals. It’s been an incredible couple weeks of action in Rio and we’ll wrap it up on the floor with eight teams competing for the last gold medal Sunday morning.
Olympics 2016: Time and TV schedule for rhythmic gymnastics group all-around finals
Russia will go for its fifth straight gold medal in the rhythmic gymnastics group all-around finals Sunday.

Following qualification on Friday, the field is set for the final. Russia will be going for its fifth consecutive Olympic gold in the event, which it has dominated since its Olympic introduction in 1996. Other than a bronze medal in that first competition, Russia’s been unstoppable. They’ll look to continue that run in Rio.
Part of what’s so impressive about the Russians’ success is the constant turnover on the roster. The group that won gold at the 2012 Olympics was completely different from four years prior. This time around, Anastasia Bliznyuk is the only returning gymnast. Despite those regular changes, Russia has remained the team to beat in rhythmic gymnastics.
The United States’ brilliance in artistic gymnastics has never extended to the rhythmic category. The Americans have never reached the Olympic final of the group all-around competition, let alone won a medal. There’s no Simone Biles or Aly Raisman to come save the day, unfortunately.
But if you’re a fan of gymnastics, this will be your last chance to catch it in the Olympics for four years. NBC Sports will have you covered all morning with coverage.
