2016 Olympics live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch NBC’s prime time coverage online

The biggest events on the first day of the Olympics are set for prime time on Saturday.

The first Saturday night of prime time action at the 2016 Olympics is focused on the pool in Rio. Several key swimming events have their finals, and Saturday’s full schedule will be televised by NBC and streamed live by NBC Sports Live Extra.

If you’re looking to see medals get handed out, the evening session in the pool begins at 9 p.m. ET, and you can stream all of NBC’s coverage using this link. We’ll get to see the finals in the men’s and women’s 400-meter individual medley, the men’s 400-meter freestyle and the women’s 4x100-meter freestyle relay. Additionally, there will be semifinals for the women’s 100-meter butterfly and men’s 100-meter breaststroke.

The defending Olympic gold medalist in the men’s 400-meter individual medley, Ryan Lochte, failed to qualify after finishing third in this year’s trials for the U.S. team behind Chase Kalisz and Jay Litherland.

In soccer, one of the bigger names for the host country, Marta, will lead the Brazilian women’s soccer team against Sweden at 9 p.m. ET.

Beach volleyball fans will want to tune in at 10 p.m. to watch as USA legend Kerri Walsh-Jennings pairs with April Ross, a silver-medal winner in London, to create a super-team.

So the big medal events of the night will be in swimming, but there’s no shortage of other stuff to watch if you’re itching for something else. NBC Sports is streaming it all, so here’s how to catch the prime time coverage:
